Miniature Schnauzers - General Description

Miniature Schnauzers are stocky built dogs with a wiry coat. They have a long head, bushy beard, mustache and eyebrows. The mustache and eyebrows are normally trimmed to emphasize the Miniature Schnauzer's square shape. Oval dark colored eyes and pointed, erect ears if cropped or v-shaped, folded ears if left natural accentuate their long face. They have a strong muzzle with a scissors bite. Typically, coat colors are black, salt and pepper, or black and silver. A rare and controversial color is white, which is not recognized by the AKC.
The head is strong and rectangular. It tapers slightly from the flat skull to the nose, and it has a slight stop. The small eyes are deep set. Cropped ears are in balance with the head. The teeth should meet in a scissors bite. Bushy mustaches and outstanding eyebrows are the hallmarks of the breed. The lower muzzle decorated is decorated with thick whiskers. This feature gives the dog its typical schnauzer look. The tail of the Miniature Schnauzer is docked when the puppy is about three days old.
Miniature Schnauzers are the 13th in popularity among the 137 registered AKC breeds, and they gain more and more popularity nowadays.
Height: 11-14 inches in males and 11-13 inches in females
Weight: Dogs weigh 10-18 pounds, and bitches-10-15 pounds.
Life Span: Miniature Schnauzers can live up to 15 years.
